Budget Accommodation

Kunang Kunang Guesthouse

A fan favourite of past Shades of Yoga students, Kunang Kunang is tucked back off the main drag in Ubud down a quiet alleyway yet still a quick 5-7 minute walk to Taksu Spa.

This guesthouse is set amongst a charming garden setting with a sun-drenched swimming pool. Although usually only one option each day, breakfast is also included in your room rate and the hotel offers free tea and coffee making facilities 24/7.

But why stay in your room when you have a heap of delicious dining options just outside on Hanoman Street? Rooms here vary so you can spend a bit extra and choose a room that overlooks the blooming rice paddies or stay basic – the choice is up to you. Either way, your room is clean and comfortable and in a superb location for the price you pay.

Past students report that features may vary from room to room so it might be a good idea to ask to view the room once you arrive and before you pay to make sure you’re completely satisfied as this will be your home for the next month!

*Prices start from about $18 USD per night.

W House / Citrus Tree Villas

Commonly known as W House yet also seen online as Citrus Tree Villas, what makes this place super convenient for your time during training is the fact that it lies on the same street as your teacher training venue – just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Taksu Spa.

Accommodation here is basic with no air conditioning (only ceiling fan) but private bathrooms with fresh towels, garden views, and daily housekeeping. A daily breakfast is also included in your room rate.

W House is a great choice for budget travelers who enjoy a wonderful central location. Walk outside the main entrance and you’ve got countless restaurants to choose from right at your fingertips.

Students speak of the kindness of the homestay staff and often booked their weekend activities and other tour related activities from the desk situated on the premises.

Some rooms also feature a mini-fridge, perfect for keeping drinks cool after a day spent in the Balinese heat.

There is also a daily complimentary breakfast with choice of banana pancakes or eggs with coffee or tea that will be delivered to your private veranda.

Tegal Sari is a large but tranquil property nestled amongst the rice paddies about 15 minutes walk from Taksu Spa, towards the Monkey Forest side of town. Although the entrance is located on busy Hanoman Street, you’ll soon find that Tegal Sari is truly its own quiet oasis.

By morning, you wake to the sun shining over the vast expanse of bright green fields and on your lunch break, you can come utilise the hotel’s lovely rooftop swimming pool (or the garden pool – yes you have two choices!)

Tegal Sari also has a spa about 500 metres up the road so that you don’t have to travel far to indulge in a wonderful, well-deserved massage. Also handy is their complimentary pick up / drop off service to wherever you might need to go within central Ubud.
