Amid all the excitement of leaving your own country, setting out for Indonesia, the nervous anticipation of starting Shades Of Yoga’s 200-hour RYT and arriving on the beautiful island of Bali, it is quite easy to forget a few of the important details.
One of those seemingly insignificant, but vitally important details, is making sure that you have reserved a taxi driver to pick you up once you arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport on Bali. It is a small airport that sees a large amount of traffic on a daily basis, and it can be quite an overwhelming experience to walk through customs and literally be swallowed up by a wave of people entering and exiting the airport through the same gateway.
You then have to navigate the numerous taxi drivers trying to jostle for your business. Add to this, the fact that it is at least a 90 minute drive to get from the airport to the Ubud city centre, and you can see why it is definitely a good idea to have a prearranged, reliable taxi driver standing at the exit from customs with a friendly smile on his face, and a signboard with your name on it in hand. The drivers all speak excellent English, are very informative on the sights, sounds and events going on in and around Ubud and Bali in general. They will have prearranged with you where you are staying in Ubud, so there will be no need to worry about finding your room for the night either. The cost is a mere $25 USD, payable in cash to the taxi driver once he has dropped you off at your accommodation in Ubud. Below is a list of drivers that the Shades Of Yoga team use on a regular basis:
