How do I choose a Yoga Teacher Training Course

First of all, search for the Yoga Teacher Training that resonates the most with you.

The moment you decide that you want to do a Yoga Teacher Training, it might seem a bit overwhelming for you to figure out what yoga school, which location and what time frame is best for you! Don’t worry, it’s all a matter of time, patience and space and you will have it all figured out in no time.

Here’s a few tips that will definitely help you choose the best and right yoga school for you to do the yoga teacher training:

Of course, tapping into your intuition is and always will be a number one factor, for you to decide what is best for you, in any kind of situation.

Although, not at all times we feel completely in tune and aligned with our Higher-Selves. And that is why it is super important that you must always do your homework and your research, so that you know exactly what you are looking for and for you to make sure that you are making a good investment and not regret it later.

First of all, you need to check what is your budget and what you are willing to pay and invest in yourself, and ultimately in others in their spiritual journey, through Yoga. You must find out what is the best money/value school for you.

In my opinion, location and venue of the Yoga Teacher Training is a major aspect. It is super important that you feel, good, safe, protected and welcomed during your Yoga Teacher Training, where you are staying and the city that you are in.

Maybe you are travelling to this place for the first time so you need to make sure of all the in’s and out’s, check testimonials and travel/health insurance, good accommodation, means of transportation, all the vaccinations, what types of food to avoid, etc.

Shades of Yoga really spoils you because they take good care of you and have all this information all set out for you, before you leave your hometown, everything you need to know to ensure that you have a safe and stress-free journey.

The amount of Hours that you need to do in order to complete the yoga teacher training and obtain the certification is also an important aspect to consider.

200-Hours is the minimum amount of time needed to become a certified yoga teacher.

Many of you might still be in the middle of a full-time job and don’t have the possibility to ask for leave for one full month. Some of you maybe don’t even want to quit your jobs and teach yoga as a part-time job! All is completely o.k, as long as you are happy.

Some of you might already feel ready, you have quit your jobs because you are certain that you are on the right path and that the yoga teacher training is your next big step.

Having this said, most of the yoga teacher training are offered in an intensive way, during 3-4 weeks, to complete 200 hours. I find that this is the best way to completely immerse yourself into the yogic philosophy like you can do with Shades of Yoga. If you’re already a Yoga teacher, you can decide to dive even deeper into your passion and do a 300-Hour Yoga Teacher Training.

If this is not an option for you, there are yoga schools that offer modules/courses during weekends, that you can finish in 9 months-1 year. It’s simply a matter of seeing what works best for your life.

Check what type of yoga and what their curriculum has to offer.

More and more, there are all different types and kinds of yoga in the market and sometimes it’s tricky to find out what fits best for you.

My suggestion is to always check the yoga school’s curriculum and what they value. Theory, yoga philosophy, meditation and pranayama, I would say are the most important parts of a Yoga Teacher Training. Asanas (physical postures) are important, but are just another part of Yoga.

Check the reviews of each yoga school, make sure that the trainings are made up of small groups of people, as you want individualized treatment and as much attention as possible, to get the best outcome.

Shades of Yoga is amazing because they only allow groups up until 16 people maximum. At the end of the training, it is like a new family has been formed, after 24 transformational days.
